Description
In the summer of 2024 On-Site Archaeology returned to Willow Bank, New Earswick, York, to revisit a substantial Romano British ditch first excavated in 2007 prior to development being undertaken on the site. The purpose of this further investigation was to better understand the feature and to try an address the question as to whether or not the feature represented the remains of a Roman practice camp. As a result of the findings of this investigation, it was felt more likely that the feature represented a late 1st century enclosure related to agricultural activity.
