An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by On-Site Archaeology Ltd at 292 Tadcaster Road, York during development of a detached annex, side extension, a soak-away trench and associated drainage. The watching brief was commissioned to satisfy a condition attached to the planning permission for the development. The investigation comprised of archaeological monitoring of test pits within the footprint of the annex, foundation excavation for a side extension to No.292, drainage and a soak-away trench. The only feature detected was a defunct 19th century brick and stone capped heating duct. No earlier archaeological features or finds were detected during the investigation.
