Description

Following pre-application advice regarding alterations to 5 Colliergate York, a series of structural investigations are taking place to inform design decisions. Two trial holes were hand-excavated as part of this assessment. Trail Hole 7 was located within the building's original footprint, with Trial Hole 5 situated in the 18th century extension. The monitoring identified two made-ground contexts. One contained pottery sherds dating from the 13th to 15th centuries, while the other included pottery sherds from the 13th to 18th centuries.
