Description

Archaeological monitoring took place during the excavation of drainage and associated petrol interceptor for the SISK compound car park on Leemans Yard during November and December 2022. A linear drain cut, aligned approximately east -west, was excavated from the centre of the access road to the location of the petrol interceptor. This drain cut was c.600-800mm wide and up to 2.6m deep. Structural remains of mid-20th century date were observed along with earlier track beds over a buried soil that contributed useful data to the emerging deposit model. No archaeological deposits of significance were encountered.
