Description

Archaeological monitoring took place during ground investigations on Plot F1 during October and November 2022. A series of 6 cable percussive boreholes with rotary follow on were drilled to depths of 39m to 49.5m. However, archaeological observations were completed in the initial 1.2m deep hand -dug test pits, excavated prior to drilling. Monitoring was conducted in the southern and south-eastern interventions (BHF105 & BHF 103), as they were the only areas where archaeological deposits were likely to survive. Naturally occuring geoloigcal deposits were observed between c.0.65m - 1.2m BGL / 11.64m - 12.04m aOD overlain by a possible 0.20m thick subsoil and then rubble. No archaeological deposits of significance were encountered.
