Full Description

House with shop. c1800 with part late C19, part C20 shopfront. Orange-red brick, in Flemish bond at front, English garden-wall bond at rear; timber eaves cornice; hipped tiled roof at front, pantile at rear; brick stack. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and attic; 1-window front. Shopfront framed in plain pilasters supporting moulded cornice on grooved brackets; replacement door and windows. Full height shallow canted bay window to first and second floors, with 8:12:8 sashes on first floor, unequal 6:9:6 sashes on second floor, both with dentilled cornices. Attic has inserted flat dormer with C20 top-hung window. Inverted bell rainwater head at right end of modillioned cornice. Rear: 3 storeys and attic; 1-window gable wall. Ground floor obscured by later building and windows C20 replacements. INTERIOR: not inspected. (City of York: RCHME: The Central Area: HMSO: 1981-: 178).
