Full Description

Two houses with shops, combined and altered to public house; now shop. 1836-39, with later C19 alteration, and part C19 part C20 shopfront. Rough cast and painted, with moulded timber eaves cornice; slate roof with brick stack. EXTERIOR: 4-storey, 2-window front. Shopfront of glazed and panelled doors between plate glass windows, framed in fluted paired pilasters with imposts, beneath broad fascia and moulded cornice. Cornice breaks forward beneath 3-light oriels with arched centre lights, framed in narrow pilaster strips beneath frieze of beaded panels and moulded cornice. On second and third floors are 1-pane sashes in raised architraves with moulded sills, taller on second floor, above sunk panels. Moulded inn sign panel between first floor windows, of fluted pilasters, round-arched cornice and broken pediment, and spandrels and tympanum moulded in low relief. INTERIOR: not inspected.
