Full Description

Pair of houses. 1812-14. Brick with slate roof. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Each house one bay. The ground-floor windows are slightly bowed sashes divided into 4 over 4 vertical panes. The 1st floor window of No.67, at the left, is similar but wider and tripartite. The right-hand window on the 1st floor is a glazing bar sash. The paired central doorcases have reeded engaged columns, recessed stone steps, panelled reveals, and fanlights. No.67 has a 4-panel door. No.69 has a door with 6 raised and fielded panels. The cornice hood is carried on console brackets. The gutter is carried on timber brackets and has a central lead downpipe and fluted hopper. Chimneys in front of ridge to left and right. INTERIOR: not inspected. No.69 was the residence of the architect GF Jones in 1846 and 1851. Nos. 67, 69,are a pair built between 1812 and 1814 by James Woodburn and Joseph Dutton respectively (YCA, E96, ff. 187ā€“188v; 225vā€“226). No. 69 was occupied by the architect George Fowler Jones in 1846 and 1851 (Directories). They have coupled doorways with reeded pilasters and semicircular fanlights.
