Full Description
Chapel, now drama studio. c1858; converted c1964. Coursed rusticated stone on moulded and chamfered plinths, with intermediate and diagonal buttresses; ashlar dressings; steeply pitched slate roof with cast-iron rainwater goods. STYLE: Gothic Revival. PLAN: 5 bays with south transept and north and south doors. EXTERIOR: east window is of 5 trefoiled lights with curvilinear tracery in the head, beneath coved hoodmould. North and south sides are buttressed between bays, interrupted on south side by gabled transept. North and south doors are board with foliated C-hinges in 2-centred arches of 3 moulded orders: above are rounded triangular lights filled with mouchettes. Blocked doorway in east return of transept. Nave windows are of paired trefoil headed lights with traceried 2-centred heads. West window is of 3 trefoiled lights with traceried 2-centred head and coved hoodmould on head stops; glazed trefoil in rounded triangular surround in gable apex. Moulded sillstring encircles building, rising over all doorways to form moulded hood, stepped beneath west window. Openings are chamfered and windows have relieving arches of voussoirs. INTERIOR: not inspected.
