Full Description

Public house, now club. c1830. Brick with painted ashlar porch. Hipped slate roof. EXTERIOR: main facade 2 storeys and 7 bays. The windows are sashed without glazing bars and have painted rendered lintels. In the 3rd bay there is a low doorway, now blocked and containing a window, with a small additional window to its right. In the 4th bay there is a tall single-storey porch carried on square columns, with pilaster responds. Above the cornice and blocking course there is a large painted stone carving of the York City arms with Civic Regalia. The door is panelled and has an overlight. The gutter is supported by rectangular timber brackets. To the right there is an 8th bay with lower eaves which has an altered casement window on the 1st floor. Further right there is a 3-bay single-storey wing which has been altered by the insertion of a C20 door and surround in the middle bay. INTERIOR: not inspected.
