Full Description

Includes: No.1 ST SAMPSON'S SQUARE. House, now shop. 1770, with later alteration and C20 shopfronts. For Robert Woodhouse. Main fronts to Feasegate and St Sampson's Square of painted brick in Flemish bond, rendered on right return; left return of orange-red brick; dentil and modillion eaves cornice of timber, and pantile roof. EXTERIOR: 4 storeys; 2 bays to Feasegate, 3 bays to St Sampson's Square. All windows on upper floors altered to various C20 replacements in original openings with flat arches of gauged brick, and painted sills on second and third floors. Dated inverted bell rainwater head to left of Feasegate front. INTERIOR: not inspected. (City of York: RCHME: The Central Area: HMSO: 1981-: 131).
