Full Description

House, now school. c1835 with later alterations. Yellow brick with painted stone dressings. Slate roof. EXTERIOR: Facade symmetrical, of 2 storeys. The 2 outer bays project forwards as straight-sided 2-storey gabled bay windows, each with paired sashes without glazing bars on each floor. The 1st floor window of the recessed centre is sashed. The porch is of painted stucco and projects forwards slightly. It has pilasters without capitals, a plain frieze, and a cornice which continues as a storey band. The doorway has a semicircular head with keystone, moulded impost blocks, and a plain overlight. The door has 4 panels. The overhanging timber eaves are modillioned. Gable chimneys. At the left there is a single-storey wing which is blank except for a blind recess. Its left-hand gable has a tall tapering rectangular chimney cap. INTERIOR: not inspected.
