Full Description

Formerly known as: No.6 CHAPTER HOUSE STREET. House. Late C17 incorporating remains of earlier structure; later alterations. Ground floor to street of coursed squared magnesian limestone, first floor rendered: rear and left return of orange-brown brick in Flemish bond; tiled roof with timber boxed guttering and brick stacks. EXTERIOR: no openings to street. Entrance in left return, through door in garden wall. Left return: 2-storey twin-gabled front. Door of 6 sunk panels beneath overlight in right bay. All windows are 12-pane sashes with segmental brick arches, one on each floor in right bay, two on each floor in left bay. Inverted bell rainwater head ornamented with winged cherub in valley between roof gables. INTERIOR: not inspected. (City of York: RCHME: The Central Area: HMSO: 1981-: 116).
