Full Description
Barn. C15 or C16, encased in brick in C18 with rebuilding of east end and repairs of 1928. Timber-framing, brick, pantile roof. Single-aisled barn of 4½ bays with entrance to second bay and aisle to north. South facade: double board doors. Board pitching door to fourth bay. 3 rows of vents. Tumbling in and raised gable ends. Interior: jowled posts on padstones, originally with straight three-way bracing, but braces to tie-beams now absent. Mortices for aisle ties visible. Collar and tie-beam roof with no ridge. 2 sets of through purlins with edge-halved, bridled scarf joints trenched into backs of principal rafters. Prince Rupert's troops are said to have been billeted here before the Battle of Marston Moor in 1644. Several bays to the west were destroyed by fire in 1928.

NMR Information:
A barn which was constructed in the 15th or 16th century which is made up of brick. The east end of the building was rebuilt in the 18th century and repair work dating to the 1928 was also carried out. The building is a single aisled barn of four and a half bays with an entrance to the second bay and aisle to the north.
The interior of the building features jowled posts on padstones with the mortices for the aisle ties still visible. The building also features a collar and tie-beam roof with no ridge.
The troops of Prince Rupert are said to have been billeted there before the Battle of Marston Moor in 1644. In 1928 several bays to the west were destroyed by fire.
