Full Description

A narrow strip of land defined by a ditch on each side with a raised area (in places cambered). The north-western section runing from Bad Bargain Lane has been built up in recent times by addition of ballast material and a roughly tarmaced surface. The central section was previously fenced off and given over to pigs. By Apr 2025 this is described as overgrown and no longer used for pigs, the northern third remains paved with ballast/rubble.
The south-eastern section has good tree and shrub cover and a large, well established badger set. In April 2025 it was reported as 'active and spanning the entire width of the lane and ditches.' The surface of the badger spoil heaps showed no sign of cobbles or any road metalling material (just sand). (Pers Comms. James Dundon Apr 2025)

The feature coincides with a parish boundary.

Although this feature gives the appearance of a Roman road, it is unlikely to be one. All the roads and lanes in the surrounding area are similarly raised and profiled.

Looks to continue NW on aerial photographs (which doesn't follow the field boundaries shown on 1st Ed OS onwards).
