Monument record MYO2289 - Building with bath, Fetter Lane
Summary
A Roman building consisting of three rooms, one of which was interpreted as a plunge bath, was observed during the excavation of a sewer trench along Fetter Lane in 1852.  The sewer rtench crossed the three rooms obliquely, indicating that the building was oriented NW-SE.  One room had a tiled floor comprising tegulae with the flanges cut off, stamped LEG IX HIS.  Substantial timber beams, possibly roof beams,  30' long and 1' square were also observed.
