Summary

A Medieval field system of ridge and furrow in the parish of Wheldrake is visible as earthworks and cropmarks on air photographs. Most of the ridge and furrow appears plough levelled, but a few areas survive as earthworks on photographs taken in the early 1970's.

Full Description

A Medieval field system of ridge and furrow in the parish of Wheldrake is visible as earthworks and cropmarks on air photographs. Most of the ridge and furrow appears plough levelled (SE 653 453, SE 673 461, SE 677 452, SE 688 460, SE 647 454) but a few areas survive as earthworks (SE 661 449, SE 681 463) on photographs taken in the early 1970's.
