Summary
Vertical aerial photographs of the early post-War period record a field system of ridge and furrow cultivation of
medieval date in Murton parish. Some still survive to the south of Murton village. The Farming Museum and the nearby abbatoir are built on fields of ridge and furrow cultivation.
