Monument record MYO3385 - Engine Shed 1841

Summary

A straight/rectangular shed built in 1841 on the south side of the GNoE lines; it is known to have originally had a roof with large clerestory and was used for many years by GN engines until being taken over in 1932 by the London Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS).

Full Description

The york central audit of heritage assets report mentions that the engine shed was probably a replacement for engine shed (MYO3720) that was propbaly built between 1844 and 1851. It also mentions that the engine shed was demolished between 1961 and 2012 and an archaeological evcavation has been carried out 0on site.
