Full Description
NMR Information:
Cropmarks evidence extensive traces of settlement on Dunnington Common which are probably Romano-British .
One cropmark complex covering an area 500m by 400m is centred on SE 683513. It comprises blocks of conjoined enclosures at SE 682512 of more than one phase which are delimited on the west and partly on the north by a straight linear boundary. Part of a double ditched enclosure shows on the interior adjacent to the boundary. To the north-east of the block there occurs a more dispersed scatter of rectilinear enclosures overlapped in places by linear boundary type features. A ditched trackway about 400m long and 10m wide, and aligned north-west/south-east runs across the area. Fragmentary linear cropmarks visible to the north-east, centred on SE 683520, probably form part of this complex. (1-4)
