Full Description
NMR Information:
Aerial photographs show a pit alignment of single pits following a slightly sinuous course on Stockton West Moor.
The pits are approximately 40 in number and are mostly oblong in shape with some more rounded. at the centre and at the southern end the pits merge to produce a continuous ditch-like appearance. This suggests that in its original form the feature comprised a ditch excavated as a series of inter-connecting pits. Part of possibly a second on a similar alignment may occur in the adjoining field to the east. The date of the alignment(s) is unknown but it may be significant that the field boundaries follow a similar orientation, north-west to south-east. (1)
