Monument record MYO3603 - Romano British Settlement Rawcliffe

Summary

Aerial photographs record the cropmarks of a possible Romano-British settlememt on Rawcliffe Moor. The features comprise a network of intersecting boundary lines aligned approximately north-south and east-west, which may not necessarily be coeval with the other ditches. Covering an area 150m by 150m. It shows one complete enclosure attached to one of the north-south boundaries and parallel double-ditched sides.

NMR Information:

Aerial photographs show possibly part of a Romano-British field system as cropmarks on Skelton Moor. The features comprise two sections of linear boundary aligned roughly north-south, and two running conversely east- west, which may not necessarily be coeval with the other ditches. A small enclosure is attached to one of the north-south boundaries. (1)
