Summary

The 19th century buildings on Gillygate contribute to the attractive historic street scene and demonstrate a wider variety of styles than those of the 18th century. Described as Buildings of Merit in the Historic Core Conservation Area Appraisal. 29-37 Gillygate is a row of 5, 4-storey red brick residential buildings including basement. They contain sash windows, bay window to ground floor and arched recessed door frames. There are modern external garages. 31 has poorly maintained railings (modern) and an additional bay window to the first floor.
