St John Street is a narrow, well enclosed residential street of mid 19th century terraced houses. They are two-storey red brick houses with bay windows. Many original sash windows and cornices remain. Pitched roofs - some alterations have taken place, such as the insertion of windows for loft conversion and addition of solar panels. Property boundaries are defined by attractive metal railings and hedges with small front gardens. The size of the gardens makes them unsuitable for conversion to parking spaces and this has ensured their preservation. Identified as Buildings of Merit in the Historic Core Conservation Area Appraisal. Surveyed December 2014-January 2015: Generally good-fair condition. No's 1 & 3 have decorative wooden fascias. Most have UPVC rainwater goods. Mixture of sash and UPVC windows. No. 13 & 33 in slightly less good state of repair. See original notes for further/more detailed information.
