Full Description
Two storey 19th century buildings. Rennovated in 1975. Identified as a Building of Merit in the Historic Core Conservation Area Appraisal.
Surveyed in January 2015 all described as being in good condition all orange brick in Flemish bond with a mixture of stone and brick sills and lintels and 8 on 8 and 6 on 6 sash windows. 28-30 in good-fair condition.
Upper floors: all in residential use.
Historic Characterisation Assessment
(66) House, No. 22, of two storeys and attics, was built in the first quarter of the 19th century. It is entered from an unusually wide through-passage, and has the stairs placed transversely between front and back rooms. Renovated 1975.
(67) Houses, Nos. 24, 26, of two storeys and attics, were built as a pair in the second quarter of the 19th century. The stairs are placed transversely between front and back rooms. No. 24 was subsequently divided into two tenements, both of which are entered from the same through-passage as No. 22. Renovated 1975.
(68) Houses, Nos. 28, 30, of two storeys, were built as a pair for Richard Fenton shortly after 1822 (YCA, E97, ff. 150v–151). The staircase of No. 30 is placed transversely between the front and back rooms. Renovated 1975.
