Full Description

Alma Grove plays an important role in the development within the Fulford Road Conservation Area. Dating to 1913, Alma Grove is an early example of social housing purposefully built originally for York Corporation tram workers. This development was where York's first council houses were built and is a fine example as such. Alma Grove was built around a green square space and the area has retained their original signage. Potentially could be the outcome of Rowntree's social reform in York during the turn of the 20th century.
