Full Description

Located at the junction between Common Road and Water Lane, the mounting block is an object unique to the village and holds both local and historical importance. Mounting blocks were once used to mount and dismount from horses until the late 18th century. With the location of the mounting block being near the Village Cross, it could suggest this area of the village marked th entrance/exit to the centre of the village. The mounting block is also situated within Dunnington conservation area.
