Monument record MYO4450 - QUELDRIC CASTLE

Summary

An adulterine castle was built at Wheldrake and was used to prey on the City of York. It was destroyed in 1149. Licence to refortify the site in 1200 was refused on the grounds that the citizens of York felt it would be a threat.
