Summary

36 The Shambles. Late 14th century timber framed house with late 15th century additions. The building is of two storeys with an oversailing upper floor. The shop front is modern.

Late C14 and late C15. Timber-framed; 2 storeys. The older portion
is the rear wing which has an open hall at 1st storey. The gabled
front is cement-rendered and with oversailing upper storeys
and all restored. One renewed casement window and a modern bow shop
window and doorway to ground storey. The interior has exposed
timber-framing. The association of the building with St Margaret
Clitherow, as recorded on a wood plaque, is erroneous. (RCHM
