Site of Roman interval tower (NW3 on key plan) excavated and destroyed in 1835. (1)

The tower measured 13ft square inside and 18 2/3 ft by 17 1/2 ft outside. In 1835 it stood to a height of 5ft above the fortress wall. It had an outer face of two single courses similar to that of the fortress wall but with two single courses of tile. See Eboracum RCHME Vol 1 for more information.
