Summary
Also known as Peasholme Green Postern. Site of postern first documented in 1280 and demolished in 1829-30. The passageway was narrowed in 1723, and was dilapidated in 1820.

Full Description
Postern gate is first mentioned in 1280. Demolished 1829 as part of the works relating to the construction of new bridge over Foss. The tower was three storeys high.
The site of the postern is directly beneath the carriageway at the end of Peasholme Green where the traffic islands are located.
