The record for this find was derived from a single NMR entry (UID 58231)for:

Miscellaneous prehistoric finds from York, including Neolithic stone and flint implements, Early Bronze Age beakers, a range of Bronze Age bronze implements including a hoard of socketed axes, Iron Age material including coins, as well as some Iron Age situlae and fibulae said to come from in or near York. Some of these items are in York Museum.

The socketed axe is the fourth item listed under a general section 'York Museum records the undermentioned prehistoric finds from York (all of which are on display) but in no case are any precise details of provenance available.'
