Full Description

Blast shelter recorded by the Pillbox Study Group associated with Clifton airfield.

Assessed and visited February 2023 by York University student Joseph Keeley as part of Raids Over York Project. Height 140cm, width 544cm and length/depth 650cm. This shelter is mostly intact, the left wall has collapsed and the brick work to the entrance is noticably damaged. The floor plan is still recognisable and the interior wall is mostly undamaged. The shelter is heavily overgrown and inaccessible. This shelter is one of 2 unique designs on the Clifton RAF camp site.

Described as medium condition - mostly complete, some damage to the structure but original form still recognisable.
