Full Description

Location of a Stanton shelter recorded by the Pillbox Study Group.

Assessed and visited February 2023 by York University student Joseph Keeley as part of Raids Over York Project. Height 140cm, width 936cm and length/depth 901cm.

This shelter is in good condition, it has been protected from significant damage by the substantial earth bank surrounding it. The interior wall is almost complete with only minor collapse. The external walls appear to only be missing the top row of bricks. The shelter is had to access to to dense surrounding overgrowth which also blocks both entrances however the internal space is open and mostly clear.

Condition described as good - Completely or almost entirely intact with minimal damage, easy to recognise original form.
