Full Description

Location of a Stanton shelter recorded by the Pillbox Study Group.

Assessed and visited February 2023 by York University student Joseph Keeley as part of Raids Over York Project. Height 140cm, width 936cm and length/depth 901cm.

This shelter is the clearest and most open example however shows significant internal wear with most of the internal wall having collapsed and been subsiquently removed. One entrance is beginning to collapse due the growth of an adjacent tree. The brickwork shows signs of environmental wear with some bricks removed entirely, however the structure of the brickwork is overall complete externally.

Condition described as medium - mostly complete, some damage to the structure but original form still recognisable.
