Full Description

Location of a Stanton shelter recorded by the Pillbox Study Group.

Assessed and visited February 2023 by York University student Joseph Keeley as part of Raids Over York Project. Height 140cm, width 936cm and length/depth 901cm.

This shelter has been mostly burried and now only the tops of the walls and entrances are recognisable. the wall to one end has collapsed but the rest of the structure is still in place. The tops of the walls and entrances are in good conditions and show the style of brick laying used in the capping of the shelters well. The internal wall does appear to have been removed once again and the rubble is evident in the earth infill.

Condition described as poor - Incomplete and/or heavily damaged, original structure/form is interpretable but not obvious.
