Stanton Air Raid Shelters were a few notches up from corrugated zinc. The Stanton was constructed from reinforced concrete, and was brought to site in half hoop sectionsmeasuring 7ft high by 20ft wide. This was the maximum length and weight which could be manhandled into position without a craner. Sections were planted against a ground beam, bolted together at the apex and sealed with bitumen. They had the reputation of offering protection against 'some blast, falling masonry, and some shrapnel'.

Present use: garden shed
