Full Description

Triple ditched rectangular enclosure with a central ringed feature with spoke-like system of ditches extending out towards the south and north. This feature did not show on the geophysical survey.

The triple ditches are likely contemporary (1st-2nd C) but may also represent sequential reinstatement over time.
The inner ring gully was oval in plan and aligned north to south and encompassed an area c. 11.8m long and 10.8m wide. The gully itself was between 0.54-0.65m in width. There was an entrance way 3.4m wide facing east. The only dateable finds comprised four sherds of handmade IA/RB pottery.

Two large reddish stones (brown quartz sandstone) were placed either side of the entrance in isolation indicating a possible ceremonial or ritual signifiance.

Features within the ring gully included postholes and pits but with no real discernible pattern, a possible cremation burial and a burnt offering pit.

The feature was excavated and has now been built upon.
