Abstract/Summary

This report presents the results of an archaeological desk-based assessment which was conducted in advance of a proposed development at the Old Dairy, Hull Road, York. The assessment comprised a search of pertinent documentary and cartographic records, and a field visit. The works were commissioned by Nathaniel Lichfield and Partners on behalf of the Co-operative Group (Property Division), and conducted by Archaeological Services Durham University. It is therefore recommended that due to the potential for archaeological deposits to survive within the Proposed Development Area, a series of trial trenches are excavated across the site in order to establish the nature and extent of any archaeological resource present which may be affected by the proposed development.
