York Historic Environment Record

An archaeological watching brief was carried out by On-Site Archaeology Ltd at the rear of 139 Holgate Road, York, during groundwork associated with the development of additional accommodation consisting of two bedrooms with a shared kitchen and dining area. The watching brief revealed a largely undisturbed soil profile consisting of topsoil (largely removed prior to commencement), a B horizon and yellowish red natural sand. No archaeological features or finds were identified or recovered during the investigation.
