Title 95-97 Micklegate EVA
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2017

Abstract/Summary

An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by On-Site Archaeology Ltd at 95 – 97 Micklegate, York. The evaluation comprised of three hand-excavated trenches within the interior of the building. The investigation revealed a surviving archaeological horizon below the current floor level at between 0.3m and 0.4m. The archaeology consisted of levelling, construction or demolition deposits, robbed out foundation and two phases of pit digging. These features are most likely activities associated with medieval burgage plots that fronted Micklegate and former medieval Benedictine Holy Trinity Priory.
