An archaeological evaluation was carried out by On-Site Archaeology at CIffilon Garage, York, North Yorkshire on behalf of Mr. R Pulleyn in advatice of the proposed residential development of the site. This work was coiiducted in order tofuffil an archaeological condition attached to the planningpermission. 7-he archaeological evaluation tookplace over a period of 5 days on site ftom the 23-29" ApriL The evaluation consisted of the excavation of three trenches to determine the nature of archaeological deposits in the area A number of archaeological features and deposits were uncovered,including ditches, pits and post-holes.
