A watching brief on ground works for a single storey house extension. Although numerous past excavations in the area have observed significant archaeological deposits (Hall, MacGregor and Stockwell, 1988), the construction of the present development in the 1980s has clearly removed the upper extents of the archaeological sequence. While the only material observed during the present works was a combination of service trench infills, drains and rubbly levelling deposits, it remains possible that significant archaeological remains survive within the site, but at a greater depth.
