Abstract/Summary
No archaeological remains were present at this site. There was limited residual pottery in the topsoil which dated to the 20th century. A circular concrete base for a former shot-putt platform was overgrown with grass to the north-west of the site (Plate 3). Multiple modern ceramic and gravel field drains ran on various alignments across the site. Natural was encountered at just 250mm-400mm BGL. The topsoil across the site was a friable dark grey brown silty clay. The natural was a firm to friable mid brownish orange clayey sand, with frequent small to large angular stone fragments and gravels and pebbles. At around 0.85m-0.90m BGL the natural transitioned to a cleaner, firmer mid to dark orangey brown sandy clay with occasional gravel and chalk flecks.
