Desk based assessment highlighting potential for well preserved, deeply stratified and complex archaeological deposition from the Roman to post-medieval periods. Of particular significance is the presence of water logging, providing exceptional conditions ideal for the survival of sensitive organic remains, from approximately 4m below the current ground level. Evaluaiton of previous work indicates Roman deposition measuring in the region of 3m - 4m thick, much of which lies within the water logged zone, and comprises terracing, streets and yards, timber and masonry buildings.
