Observations and recording during the excavation of three new retaining wall foundations as well as limited excavation to enable engineering works to take place on extant walls. This report is an interim, briefly outlining the results of first two stages of the retaining wall works. A more in-depth report will be produced once all work on the site has been completed. This stage of works uncovered a potential early medieval burial, medieval structures, deposits and pits, along with evidence of post-medieval occupation, including evidence of structures shown on the OS 1852 map of York.
