Source/Archive record SYO2478 - Land at Union Court

Title Land at Union Court
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2009

Abstract/Summary

The watching brief showed that the main sewer system at Union Terrace appears to have been constructed through tunnelling, with minimal disturbance to the overlying deposits. However, there was extensive later disturbance to a depth of 2.4m below thepresent road surface. This disturbance appears to have been associated with the construction of the ceramic water pipe and the reduction and capping of the lamphole. It is likely that the red brick fragments within the overlying levelling deposits originated from the demolished portion of the lamphole.
