Abstract/Summary

The earliest deposit uncovered was a dark silty deposit interpreted as a horticultural soil, encountered at 0.5m BGL. This was sealed by a more mixed deposit that could relate to a change in land use, roughly 50-100mm thick. A cut for the standing building was made through this deposit, down to the horticultural soil. This cut was later mostly truncated away when the site was stripped to put in drains in and hardcore placed around the drains, roughly 300mm in depth. This was sealed by a layer of sand that acted as the bedding material for the brick setts, roughly 50mm deep
