Abstract/Summary

No in-situ archaeological deposits were observed in either of the trenches, with the sequence instead comprising entirely of modern service trench infills. The mixed infill deposits contained a large concentration of soft, dark-grey clayey silt as well as modern crushed stone hardcore and brick rubble. The clayey silt deposit may represent re-deposited horticultural soils dating to the area’s pre-19th century use as gardens and grazing land. Inspection of the spoil showed no evidence of re-deposited material pre-dating the 19th century to be present within the service fills.
