Abstract/Summary

During late September 1938 during excavations for Air Raid Precaution trenches at the Eye of York, an Anglo Scandinavian (9th-10th century) bone trial piece was recovered from disturbed ground at a depth of 4ft (1.20m). The artefact was deposited by Mr L.R. A. Grove with the British Museum.
